16: Most People Don't Know This But......

Today's Prompt:  "Most people don't know this but..."

I struggle with letting people in my life. I like to protect myself from hurt and disappointments

It takes awhile for me to get to know other people. Please don't take my quietness as me not wanting to get to know you.

I struggle throughout school. I was told that I would never make it to college, majoring in social work. But I have made the deans list and was a A student in my social work classes. I also have a Masters Social Work.

I do not like watermelon. I know most people do but I do not like the taste of watermelon.

Since moving to Philly, I am afraid of the dark. I am not sure why.

I played the piano and clarinet in middle and high school.

I really want to travel to Rome one day.

I love Photography but I do not like it when people take pictures of me without my permission.

I can read Spanish and understand Spanish when spoken but I cannot carry a long conversation in Spanish.

What about you? What are some things people do not know about you?

14: Why I blog?

Todays Prompt:  When did you start blogging and why?

I started to blog in the year 2005. I remember being in my High School library when I made the decision to blog. There was a lot of things going on in my life. I was dealing with depression, loneliness and being teased. I was a "new" Christian and starting to know God by going to church, praying  and reading the Bible. Over the years, my reasons for blogging have changed. At first, I just wanted a place to write out my thoughts and write about God and prayers.  I want my blog to be about God, life, prayers and journaling. I have grown a lot since my first blog post and in a way I think, blogging has shown my journey and growth in Christ Jesus. I hope this blog will be a place people are shown the love of God and can be encourage to keep following Christ.

13: Your current relationship status.

Today's Prompt: Your current relationship status. If dating/married, give us a glimpse of your story! If single, share about this special season.

Single Girl....

I can remember time and time, people asking me "why are you single?" or "do you have a boyfriend?" That question use to bother me but it does not now. I have accepted that I am single and I probably will be single for awhile. Being single is good and a blessing.

I found this time of singleness a blessing and a time I should use wisely. I have been using this time to involve myself in church and life group. Right now I am learning to be content where I am in my life. I am learning to live one day at a time, instead of trying to speed up time or always wondering what someone is doing.

I wrote this quote in my journal on 4.19.2014.

I do solemnly resolve to embrace my current season of life and will maximize my time in it. I will resist the urge to hurry through or circumvent any portion of my journey but will live with a spirit of contentment.

The Resolution for Women By Priscilla Shirer

This quote describe where I am in my singleness. I would love to be in the ministry of marriage but I am content. I just want to daily seek God and get closer to him. I will continue to pray for the opportunity and privilege to be in ministry of marriage, but I am happy to be single.

9: My Personality

Today's Prompt: Let's talk personality types. Introverted? Extroverted? Unsure-troverted? ;) If you know your Myers-Briggs type, tell us about it! If not, you can take this similar test and share your results.

I am a INTROVERT. I remember when I was younger, I though there was something wrong with my personality. I come from family (close and distant) who have strong personalities and are loud. Every once in a while I need to RECHARGE. I need my alone time. Being around people all the time is draining.

I love to LISTEN. So if I don't say anything, I am just listening, observing and thinking before I speak. I like to have some meaning with my words.

I prefer to be in a SMALL groups. I don't like big crowds of people. I love to go out and have fun with people every once in awhile.

I am NOT ANTISOCIAL. I just like to talk when I have something important to say. I am a Social Worker. I have to talk to people all day, introduce myself and get to know the people I will be working with.

I prefer to be HOME with TEA and a MOVIE. I like outside but I love the comfort of my room or my home.

My Other Personality Traits:

Diligent. EASY Going. Reserved. CAUTIOUS. determine. Compassionate. Organized. HELPFUL. modest. Adaptable. OBSERVANT. creative. sensitive. Funny- at times. Intuitive. Suspicious-of people. Friendly.

Day 3: When I grow up.....

"When I grow up I want to be...."

When I think of this post I can't help but to feel weird or laugh because somethings came true, some did not, and some I am not sure will come true. I also think that at different stages of my life I had dreams of what I wanted to be...........

As a 7 year old.....

I wanted to be a doctor. I did not know what exactly but I knew I wanted to help people.

I wanted to be a Christian. I can remember praying to God almost every-night that He would save me. Also with this prayer, I would ask God for my family and I to move to New York. At the age of 12, I moved to New York. During a Christmas Eve, church service is when I believe I became a Christian.

As an 16 year old.....

I wanted to be married with kids. I wanted to have the privilege and opportunity to serve God in ministry of marriage and grow my children in a Christian home. I did not grow up in a Christian home, but I prayed that God would allow for this prayer to come true. I also wanted to adopt children in America. I hope that I could give children a home. Not sure if this will ever happen, to be a wife and mother.....

I wanted to be a social worker. I hoped to be a school social worker. Well, there is still time, I guess. I hope to be able to be a competent Social Worker who is able to work among different populations. Right now I am serving older adults who are terminal ill and disable.

I wanted to be a photographer. My love for photography began in High School. I learned different techniques and how to develop film. Photography is my heart and makes me happy.

As an 21 year old....

I wanted to still be a Social Worker but in the Army. I currently serve adults who have depression and anxiety from being in war. Being a Social Worker in the Army is a long...long process but I will do what is needed to be a Social Worker in the Army.

Present day....I am a Christian and a Social Worker. What is next, only God knows. I look forward to the days and months to come.

What did you want to be?

At this present time, are you want you hope to be?

Day 1: About The Author

Long time coming. It's been awhile since by last post and I have many times said "Today, will be the day I post on my post" but instead I could not think of what to post. Then, I saw this Blog-Tember with Brave Love from Healthy Living by Grace  from Facebook. I thought this 30 day Challenge would be a great start to posting daily.

 So it it goes...............

Day 1 Today's prompt

Imagine the front sleeve of a hard cover novel. Give us your “About the Author” so we can get to know one another, and for fun tell us what your imaginary novel would be about.

About the Author:

Born in the Heart Land of America - Kansas City Missouri, Asia is the founder of A Lady in the Making. She grew up in New York, where she would would received a Bachelor Degree in Social Work from Nyack College. The City of Brotherly Love, is where she calls home and received her Masters in Social Work. As of right now she serves the Aging Population of Adults who are terminally ill and have disabilities.

This blog came to be, when she was in high school and wanted to share her love for Christ and love for prayer. Over the years, this blog showed the ups and downs of life but overall the hope Asia, has is to show her readers that God is able and more than enough.

Extra more......

I am what some would call as quiet and that is true but really, I am observing and thinking about what is going on around me. My love for  photography started in high school in which I learned techniques and develop film. I wish to travel go to Rome, Africa or Japan. I have a heart for children and animals. I cannot not stand to see children or animals being mistreated. I volunteer my time at my church Children Ministry working with toddlers. I hope to get a yorkie or shih tzu (one day soon).  I love to watch movies, right now I am finding myself watching Asian Films. Check out the trailers for Saving My Hubby,  or   Chocolate are some of my favorites. I also love to journal my prayers to God and sit and drink tea. I am one of those girls that rather be in a quiet place by the river or out taking pictures.
