Day 17- Your favorite memory

I would say my favorite memory was when I was a baby crawling into the kitchen to the refrigerator. I open it up and starting eating whatever I could eat. I ate butter, cheese and who know what else. I was making my way to the trash can and before I could eat anything, but my mother came and got me. I could no believe myself but I was a greedy and fat baby.

(yes I remember that long ago. I asked my mother if it remember right and she said yes I did do that)

Day 13- This Week

On Sunday, I went to church and it was great. Pastor talked about the importance of living in community. I think this is something I need to be aware of. I am so use to being by myself but I need to be around more believers in the Faith

On Monday, I thought I was going to have a panic attack as I looked at all the worked that had to be done for my social work class. Mondays class was my Social Work Seminar class, and I have to say I am so nervous. I am a little nervous about teaching a three hour class but the positive side is that I am going to be in class with my peers that I have been with since I was a freshmen.

On Tuesday, I got up early for my second day at internship. I went on a couple of home visits and they were great. I love being around children and seeing them develop and learn. I came back to my dorm and got ready for my next class. My professor did not show up, so me and the whole class decided to leave.

I look forward to tomorrow. I am not sure we will have class since it is suppose to snow badly. But, I hope everyone will have a great week!!!

Day- 11 Your Siblings

Brother 1
I have a lot of memories of it just being us two growing up in Missouri. The best memory is when it was Christmas (we were 7 and 8). We had had so many presents to open that I myself fell asleep. Though I am older than him, he calls me big little sister. My brother is taller than me but I am still the oldest. I love it when he picks me up every time he sees me after I come home from college vacation.

Brother 2
My second brother I get along well with. I think we are a lot of alike when it come to our personality. One thing I love about him is his eating habits. My brother loves to eat, he could eat more than 6 hot dogs for dinner. He loves to play video games (like all teen boys) with his friends.

Sister 1
I remember as a young girl going over her house to visit my little sister. My dad would take over her moms house for a day and I would play with her. When my family moved to NY, I lost contact with her for more the 12 years. I would always pray to God that I would be able to reconnect when my sister. In the year of 2008, is when on facebook my sister request to be my friend. After confirming that we were sisters, I am very thankful to know about my sister.

Sister 2
My little sister is twelve and loves to be with her friends. I know from my social work (study on adolescents), that girls her age rather be with her friends. She loves to play the Wii games and watch movies. As of right now her favorite TV show is The Game.

Day 10- What you wore today

This post is not going to be to interesting. Today I work at a grocery store for four hours. All  I will be wearing is a black jean, black shoes, long sleeve shirt and a green sweater. I work in a produce department making salads in a room that is below 45 degrees. I also have a scarf for my neck so I wont become sick. I hate working in the cold so I try to stay warm the best way I can.

Day 8- A moment

The first thing I think of as "a moment" is when I found out my brother was having a baby. I was so excited and could not wait to tell everyone I would be an auntie. As some might know from previous post, that my niece was born at 1pd and 5 ounces. I was so excited to know she was here but at the same time sad as I saw her in the incubator. I would pray and pray and ask God to let my niece Jesalin get strong and healthy. In the summer 2010, she was able to come home and I did not want to put her down. Now my niece is healthy and growing into a big girl. She is so funny, she loves to laugh when someone plays airplane with her, loves making funny faces and she has the most beautiful green eyes. My niece will be one year old next month and I can't wait.

Day 7- Your Best Friend

I would say that my best friend would be my roommate Heather. We both meet our freshman year as we were moving into our college dorm. Over the years we became really great friends. Heather,  is someone I can trust and usually I do not trust anyone. She is person that is honest, reliable, funny, trusting, creative, and a  sister in Christ. She has been an encouragement about issues that most people don't know about. As this is our last year in college, I will miss her very much. I have never meet someone like her and I thank God for her.

Day 6- Your day

I think my  day would have to be in the year 2007 on my 19 birthday and high school graduation. I thought it was awesome to have graduated on my birthday with my family watching me. That was a day I have always looked forward too. I just wanted to get out of high school because I never had any good experiences in high school with my peers. I wanted to move forward to another journey in college. I am so happy that I got to be with family and friends on "my day." I was on a boat on the Hudson River, the weather was great (which usually in NY it always rain on my birthday), went to a Japanese restaurant and just had the greatest time of my life.

Winter Vacation is Over...Back at College

Summer 2010
I feel that this winter break went slow. It is my last year at my current college and I am not sure about how I feel about this being my last year. It seems went by so slow and had its ups and downs. I am thankful that I got this far because I really did not know most days how it would work out. I look forward to this semester because it almost coming to an end. I am praying that this semester want be stressful but I will be relax and accomplish all I need to get done for the Spring semester. I pray that I will grow as I internship at an agency for families, meet new friends and enjoy time with the friends I have now. I pray that I will trust God in the direction He would have for me.

Martin Luther King Jr.

As a young girl I remember reading about him in books and watching documentries on his life. When I think of him, I think of someone that has courage, faith and dreams. I know it has been over 43 years since his death, but I pray and hope that we will never forget him and all that he accomplish. I admire him and thankful for what he did for Blacks freedom and standing up against injustices. In the memory of Martin Luther King Jr. I have decide to post his quotes. Another thing I love about Dr. King is that his words were so powerful and meaningful.

“There are more Negroes in jail with me than there are on the voting rolls.”

“Throughout the struggle for racial justice I have constantly asked God to remove all bitterness from my heart and to give me the strength and courage to face any disaster that came my way.”

“Racism is a sickness unto death.”

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

“We are entering deeper nights of social disruption in our country, we have the resources to solve our problem. But the question is, do we have the will?”

“We cannot be satisfied as long as the Negro’s basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one.”

“Some of us bear the burden of trying to save the soul of America.”

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’”

“When evil men plot, good men must plan. When evil men burn and bomb, good men must build and bind. When evil men shout ugly words of hatred, good men must commit themselves to the glories of love.”

“Non-violence is a powerful and just weapon. It is a weapon unique in history, which cuts without wounding, and ennobles the man who wields it. It is a sword that heals.”

“We have allowed our civilization to outrun our culture, and so we are in danger now of ending up with guided missiles in the hands of misguided men.”

“I speak out against this [Vietnam] war not in anger, but with sorrow in my heart and, above all, a passionate desire to see our beloved country stand as a moral example to the world.”

“There is nothing more tragic than to find an individual bogged down in the length of life, devoid of depth.”

“When the history books are written in future generations, the historians will have to pause and say, ‘There lived a great people, a black people, who injected new meaning and dignity into the veins of civilization."

"A right delayed is a right denied."

"An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity."

"Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can't ride you unless your back is bent."

Day 5- Your defintion of Love

Love:

Kind
Sacrificial
Selfless
Patient

1 Corinthians 13:4-7
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

Day 4- What you ate today

I think every since I went to college, I hardly eat anything. In fact I can go the whole day without anything and only when my stomach start burning, I would eat. I know it's bad and something I need to monitor my eating habits. But for today, I ate chili for diner.

Chili and crackers are my favorite especially on a cold day!!!

Day 3- Your Parents

My Mother
My mom is the most beautiful woman.
When I think of her, I think of someone that is intelligent,
strong, confident, beautiful, loving, caring, and independent.
She has given so much of herself and I just want to show her that I love her.

My Father
At first thought of my dad, I smile.
I am glad that I have memories of him
even though it hard to know he is gone.
I still miss my father and wish I had more time with him.
I love the moments of him teaching me how to ride my bike and taking me places in his white Cadillac.

You can check out the poem I wrote called Red's Chameleon Eyes

Day 2- Your first Love

My first love would be Jesus Christ. I know for some people that concept might be hard to understand but it is Him. I was never a girl that was boy crazy or had a lot of boys wanting to "be" with me. I guess as a young girl I use to worry about it a lot and wonder why guys did not like me. I think it was because I was not aggressive toward boys. I use to hate that about myself and it use to be a struggle with me because everyday I wished I was someone else.

But now I am mature and I see things a lot different than I use to. I have to say the day I receive Christ Jesus into my heart is when I found love. I no longer foolishly looking for love and wanting attention from guys. My first love is Jesus.

What I love about Him:
Sacrifice His life for me and willing He did it.
Love me when I don't deserve it
That He first love me
He sustains me
He strengthens me
Protects me
He cares for me
He is my helper

We All Need Encouragment

No matter where we are in our Christian walk, we all need encouragement. We need someone to come along side us and to help us. There will be times, that as believers we will face situations in which we feel alone and don't know what to do. Many of us face losing our jobs, feel depressed, hopeless,  new believers need encouragement, encouragement to those that are sick and more. There are a number of ways we can encourage one another just by offering:

>Pray
>Our Words
>Acts of Service

I encourage all to remember our family members, friends, associates and whoever else, to offer encouragement to one another. The fact the we pray, our words and our acts of service can help someone that feel hopelessness and despair.
Proverbs 12:25
Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

1 Thessalonians 5:14
And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.

My Journals

I started my first journal in the year 2008, in which I would write all my prayers to Abba. I really do enjoy writing my prayers and the things that God is teaching me. I love that I am able to look back at what God is doing, the issues that I was going through, the highs and lows of life. I just wanted to write this post because I am on my sixth journal. I feel the empty pages remind me of how I can't see how the road ahead will be. I use to be afraid of not knowing everything and I can't lie I hate surprises, but like those empty pages I am going to trust God even if I don't know what will happen next.

I encourage others to trust in the Creator of the Universe who hold all things together.

Introducing Another Blog!

I have decided to start another blog on social work. I am a social work major and I thought it would be cool to have another blog focus on social work and my experience as I get ready for graduate school. I am learning so much at my internship and I just want to have a place to write down everything I am learning. Once the semester start, I will have another semester of social work classes and I know it will be a busy year. I get excited about my social work classes because since I go to a Christian College, I get to see how we as Christians handle certain situations from a perspective of a Christian. I really do hope that you all follow My Social Work Blog.

Happy New Year!!!

Its a New Year. I can't believe that the year 2010 went so fast and a lot of great things happen. I want to first thank God for letting me and my family make it to another year. The most exciting thing that happen for me is becoming an auntie. I love my niece so much and even as I think of her, I always smile. She is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen and she is so funny. I am so thankful for her and pray for her. I am also thankful for another year in college, I love going to a Christian College because I am always challenged, convicted, learn and grow. There were a lot of things I learned in the year 2010. I learned that life is unexpected, things are given and taken away, to love others even when they hurt you, and I learned it is okay to be open to others.

As the New Year is here now, I pray over many things and look forward to many things. I am happy that I will be doing the Fast A Meal to pray for someone salvation, I will continue to pray for my niece development, my family and friends. I plan on focusing more on building my two business. And finally I look forward to graduation in December of 2011. I know that anything can happen in the year of 2011, but I will trust my Savior. I hope that everyone will do the same. I hope that we all spend more time with our Savior, family and friends. Happy New Year to everyone.
