Choosing Gratitude Day 30

Wow, this is my last day of "30 Day Challenge of Gratitude," and I have learned so much. I learning to be thankful for what we have no matter how small it might seem. I am thankful for the seen and unseen danger, the Lord has kept me from. I am so thankful for family and friends. I find it amazing how God has connected us all to one another. I am thankful to be alive, I know there were many times I could have died, but I am still here. I am thankful that Christ saved me and I have a relationship with God.

Choosing Gratitude Day 29

For those who are married, here something to think about:

"Do your children hear you thank your husband when he tackles a home repair job? Do they hear you express gratitude to the Lord and to others for both little and big things throughout the day?"

Choosing Gratitude Day 28

Philippians 1:3-11 (English Standard Version)

Thanksgiving and Prayer
3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, 4always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. 6And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. 7It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. 8For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. 9And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, 10so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Choosing Gratitude Day 27

Questions to ask yourself:

1)Do I often complain about my circumstances, feeling like I deserve better?
2) Do others hear me voice more complaints and negative comments than words of gratitude about the typical events of daily life?
3) Would others describe me as a thankful person?
4) What evidence is there that I have a grateful or an ungrateful spirit?
5) How often do I begin statements with these words: “I am so thankful that . . .”?
6) Do I more frequently display a pessimistic, negative outlook or a positive, grateful perspective?
7) Am I reserved or eager when it comes to expressing appreciation to others?
8) My most recent expression of gratitude was …

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to you all. Lets us remember the greatest gift to be born; Jesus Christ. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.

Something to do:

"Today, try crafting your own declaration of thanksgiving. Use some of the insights the Lord has been growing in you these last few weeks. Incorporate some of the Scriptures that have particularly touched you"

Choosing Gratitude Day 25

Something to think about:

"Use your prayer time today to think back over the history of God’s faithfulness in your life, your family, and your church. Make a list of desperate situations or seasons when you have witnessed His providential protection and provision."

Choosing Gratitude Day 24

"Too many of us live with a chip on our shoulder, as if the world owes us something. “You ought to do this for me. You ought to serve me. You ought to meet my needs.” But the humble heart—the grateful heart—says, “I don’t deserve this, and it’s an amazing act of grace that you should minister to my needs.”

Choosing Gratitude Day 23

"All of us, in some way, possess some sense of entitlement toward God. So often our expectation or demand for “more” towers over the plenty we already possess. That’s because we forget that God doesn’t owe us anything. We are debtors. We are the ones who owe. We think we deserve more (or different or better) than we have, and therefore we forget or minimize the blessings God has already given and continues to give." -Revive Our Hearts

Quote from Revive Our Hearts:

"Even if we possess much less than others have, if our hearts are full of gratitude, neither money nor the lack of it can shake our contented dependence on God."

Choosing Gratitude Day 21

Quote from Revive Our Hearts:

"If one of the blessings of gratitude is that it makes us generally happier people, it follows that gratitude makes those who live with us happier too."

The End of the Semester

I just finish my last final at 8am, I am happy to say that I did very well. This semester has been very hard for me. At the beginning of this semester I did not what to expect, but I kinda had an idea that it was going to be busy. I had two jobs and mentoring five girls. I remember over the summer, me wanting to join a write a website to write articles that would help young Christian girls. I ask the Lord if I should join the website and He said "not now." I did not understand why. But, I believe now I understand, it was because this semester was going to be hard and very busy.

This semester, I learned so much about myself and it very hard to face it. I have cried so much this semester. I took a Spiritual Formation and Human Behavior class and these two classes have taught me so much. In my Spiritual Formation class, we did the "mask," on the one side, we had to write what others saw in us and the other side, what we see about ourselves. This mask brought up a lot of childhood issues that I seemed to still be affected by. As a young girl, I felt ugly, stupid, and unworthy. In Human Behavior class, we learned the issues that children go through and how they affect them when they get older. I have realized that being teased as a young girl, has shaped me who I am today. I am not trusting of people and I am afraid of what people can do to me. I know that this is not good because, as a believer I need to be surrounded by community. I pray to God, that he would help to trust people and give me confidence. I want the Lord, to free me of my pain.

Choosing Gratitude Day 16

Joy Comes with the Morning

Psalm 30 (English Standard Version)

1I will extol you, O LORD, for you have drawn me up
and have not let my foes rejoice over me.
2O LORD my God, I cried to you for help,
and you have healed me.
3O LORD, you have brought up my soul from Sheol;
you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.
4Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints,
and give thanks to his holy name.
5 For his anger is but for a moment,
and his favor is for a lifetime.
Weeping may tarry for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.

6As for me, I said in my prosperity,
"I shall never be moved."
7By your favor, O LORD,
you made my mountain stand strong;
you hid your face;
I was dismayed.

8To you, O LORD, I cry,
and to the Lord I plead for mercy:
9"What profit is there in my death,
if I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise you?
Will it tell of your faithfulness?
10 Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me!
O LORD, be my helper!"

11You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
you have loosed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness,
12that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

Choosing Gratitude Day 15

Giving Thanks to God:
I thank You Abba, today for all the situations I have gone through and still going through. I don't have enough money to pay for school, but it has brought me back to You to pray that You would be my provider. I'm still hurting from my past, but it has brought me closer to You. I am leaning on You and trusting You for everything. I have felt lonely, but You comfort me and always make Yourself known. I love You so much and thank You for all things.

Psalm 50:14-15 (English Standard Version)
14 Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
and perform your vows to the Most High,
15and call upon me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me."

Psalm 50:23 (English Standard Version)
23The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me;
to one who orders his way rightly
I will show the salvation of God!"

"Perhaps it’s hard for you to find much to be thankful for today. Look above your circumstances, beyond your fears, and ask God to show you what He’s doing in the midst of them." Revive Our Hearts

Psalm 56 (English Standard Version)

Psalm 56
In God I Trust

1 Be gracious to me, O God, for man tramples on me;
all day long an attacker oppresses me;
2my enemies trample on me all day long,
for many attack me proudly.
3When I am afraid,
I put my trust in you.
4In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me?
5All day long they injure my cause;
all their thoughts are against me for evil.
6They stir up strife, they lurk;
they watch my steps,
as they have waited for my life.
7For their crime will they escape?
In wrath cast down the peoples, O God!

8You have kept count of my tossings;
put my tears in your bottle.
Are they not in your book?
9Then my enemies will turn back
in the day when I call.
This I know, that God is for me.
10In God, whose word I praise,
in the LORD, whose word I praise,
11in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can man do to me?

12I must perform my vows to you, O God;
I will render thank offerings to you.
13 For you have delivered my soul from death,
yes, my feet from falling,
that I may walk before God
in the light of life.

"Resolve not to let your joy level be determined by the presence or absence of storms, but by the presence of God. Choose to be joyful in Him today." Revive Our Hearts

Psalm 43:1-5 (English Standard Version)

Send Out Your Light and Your Truth
1Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause
against an ungodly people,
from the deceitful and unjust man
deliver me!
2For you are the God in whom I take refuge;
why have you rejected me?
Why do I go about mourning
because of the oppression of the enemy?
3 Send out your light and your truth;
let them lead me;
let them bring me to your holy hill
and to your dwelling!
4Then I will go to the altar of God,
to God my exceeding joy,
and I will praise you with the lyre,
O God, my God.

5 Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation and my God.

Choosing Gratitude Day 12

"While living a godly life does not guarantee physical health, a healthy (spiritual) heart can do much to enhance our physical and emotional well-being."
Revive Our Hearts

Being on Day 12, pf this challenge has made me look at life differently. I am so grateful for everything that I have have and done through. I don't deserve a lot of things, but God has graciously given to me. I know all the challenges and "hard times" I went through has and will help me to grow has a Christian. I thank God for everything.

3 John 1-4 (English Standard Version)
1 The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth. 2Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. 3For I rejoiced greatly when the brothers came and testified to your truth, as indeed you are walking in the truth. 4I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.

Choosing Gratitude Day 11

"If you’re a Christian, the best thing that’s ever happened to you is being saved from sure destruction for your sins and ushered into the family of God, beginning now and continuing for all eternity. Sadly, time tends to dull our appreciation of the magnificent, sacrificial work of Christ on our behalf." Revive Our Hearts

While we were in sin, Christ died for us. For this reason we should be thankful

Romans 5:1-11 (English Standard Version)

1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
6For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 10For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 11More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Choosing Gratitude Day 10

"There are blessings in your life and mine that “no eye has seen, nor ear heard” (v. 9)—blessings that only show themselves by not showing up."

Grateful For:
For all the times I cross a bridge and it has not fallen
For keeping me safe on the highway, with me being a new driver
For trees not falling on me when there is a bad storm
Not getting electrocuted when it is raining and lighting

1 Corinthians 2:6-11 (English Standard Version)

Wisdom from the Spirit
6Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. 7But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. 8None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9But, as it is written,

"What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him"—
10these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 11For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

Choosing Gratitude Day 9

"Where gratitude grows, you’ll generally find generosity flourishing as well."

Questions:
"What act(s) of generosity might gratitude be motivating you toward today? Ask God for wisdom and faith, and then follow through on the promptings of His Spirit in relation to your giving"

2 Corinthians 9:6-15 (English Standard Version)

The Cheerful Giver
6The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 9As it is written,

"He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever."
10He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. 12For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God. 13By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission flowing from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others, 14while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you. 15 Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!

Choosing Gratitude Day 8

Gratitude is of a humble heart. A gratitude heart is happy with what, they have and realize they are not entitle to anything. Being ungrateful is out of a proud heart. Ungrateful heart, is more likely to complain, become resentful and be wrapped in themselves.

Something to thing about: How does your complaining manifest a spirit of pride, entitlement, and expectations?

James 4:6-10 (English Standard Version)
6But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble." 7Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

Luke 17:11-15 (English Standard Version)

Jesus Cleanses Ten Lepers
11 On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. 12And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance 13and lifted up their voices, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us." 14When he saw them he said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." And as they went they were cleansed. 15Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice;

Choosing Gratitude Day 6

"You could never generate enough gratitude to express what they mean to you and what they tell you about your Savior."

My Prayer of Thanks:

Abba, these earthy words could not express how thankful I am. I am truly bless and grateful. Thank You, that I am still alive. I could have died as a baby being shock by the plug. I just so happen to have my shoes off, because the the electricity went through my body. I could have drown in a swimming pool, but my cousin was there to pull me out just at the right time. Thank You, for hearing my prayer as a little girl, while living in Kansas City, after my dad died, I prayed that You would tell my dad I loved him, that one day You would save me and that I would move to NY. And now, I am saved and I live in NY. Thank You for my family, I love them so much, thank You for putting them in my life. I have some really cool friends, I love them and thank You for them. I also, have great brothers and sisters in Christ that I love. Abba, You have bless me and I thank You. Help me to always to remember who You are and what you have done. I love You.

Romans 11:33-36 (English Standard Version)

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God!" How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
"For who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been his counselor?"
"Or who has given a gift to him
that he might be repaid?"

For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.

Choosing Gratitude Day 3

Question to ask yourself:

*What was your life like before He redeemed you?
*How did God bring you to the end of yourself, to the place where you cried out to Him for mercy?
*What has changed since He delivered you from your slavery to sin?

For me personally, the Lord has been very gracious to me and for that I have so much to be thankful for. I remember when I was younger, feeling depressed and lonely. I saw myself as a person that was not worthy of anything. I cried a lot and I hated myself. I give thanks to God for letting me know I am not alone. I have Him and I have family and friends. I am thankful that the Lord show me His loved because for a long time, I did not feel loved. I thought everyone hated me, and the reason was because people teased and called me names. I truly thought there was something wrong with me. I felt ugly, after all people would call me ugly. I thank God I know what and where true beauty comes from. I 'm thankful for all the times I have cried and God made it known to me, He cares for me. I contemplate suicide a lot, and it hurts, because I thought I was alone and that no one cared for me. But God has been there and still is with me. I know He loves me. I am thankful that I am able to share my testimony. I know that I am going through and have gone through issues and pain, so one day I will be able to tell others. Thank You Lord!!!

Bible Verse:
Psalm 107:1-32 (English Standard Version)
1 Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever!
2Let the redeemed of the LORD say so,
whom he has redeemed from trouble
3and gathered in from the lands,
from the east and from the west,
from the north and from the south.
4Some wandered in desert wastes,
finding no way to a city to dwell in;
5hungry and thirsty,
their soul fainted within them.
6Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
7He led them by a straight way
till they reached a city to dwell in.
8 Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
9For he satisfies the longing soul,
and the hungry soul he fills with good things.

10 Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death,
prisoners in affliction and in irons,
11for they had rebelled against the words of God,
and spurned the counsel of the Most High.
12So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor;
they fell down,with none to help.
13 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
14He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,
and burst their bonds apart.
15 Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
16For he shatters the doors of bronze
and cuts in two the bars of iron.

17Some were fools through their sinful ways,
and because of their iniquities suffered affliction;
18 they loathed any kind of food,
and they drew near to the gates of death.
19Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
20He sent out his word and healed them,
and delivered them from their destruction.
21 Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
22And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving,
and tell of his deeds in songs of joy!

23Some went down to the sea in ships,
doing business on the great waters;
24they saw the deeds of the LORD,
his wondrous works in the deep.
25For he commanded and raised the stormy wind,
which lifted up the waves of the sea.
26They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths;
their courage melted away in their evil plight;
27they reeled and staggered like drunken men
and were at their wits’ end.
28 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
29He made the storm be still,
and the waves of the sea were hushed.
30Then they were glad that the waters were quiet,
and he brought them to their desired haven.
31 Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
32Let them extol him in the congregation of the people,
and praise him in the assembly of the elders.

Choosing Gratitude Day 2

"As those who have "died" with Christ, been buried with him in baptism and "raised with him through faith," our joy and hope do not emanate from any earthy source or from our religious practices, but from Him."

Our hope and joy are found in Christ Himself.

We as believers should give thanks for our Savior for willing dieing on the cross and saving us from the wrath of God. Since Christ died and rose, he defeated the grave. I am now able to approach Christ and able to have a relationship with God.

Bible Verse:

Colossians 1:15-22 (English Standard Version)
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. 21 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, 22he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him,

Colossians 1:12-14 (English Standard Version)
12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his

Colossians 2:9-15 (English Standard Version)
9For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. 11In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.

Choosing Gratitude Day 1

I have just join Choosing Gratitude 30 Day Challenge, from Revive Our Hearts. I will putting up post about what I learn from this challenge. I hope these post will encourage you. It is so easy to let the craziness of this world, let us forget about what we should appreciate and to be thankful for. We can become very ungrateful about life and what we have. Instead we should express our gratitude God and others.

Check out the website below:
http://www.reviveourhearts.com/choosinggratitude/

Colossians 3:12-17 ESV

Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness and patience, bearing with one another and, of one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

I'm Home for Vacation

My vacation begins and I am happy to be home. This semester in school has been crazy and I know it will affect my grades. Let's just say, now I am trusting God. I am happy to be away from college, I need to rest. Since I will be home, I will be driving and for Thanksgiving, preparing dinner. I am excited about that.

Reflecting on my Journal

I love to look back on what I wrote in my journal. Here is something I wrote:

Abba,
Show me Your ways, O LORD
Teach me Your paths.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me
For You are the God of my salvation;
On You I wait all day.
Psalm 25:4-5

Please show me your ways, let my heart, ears be open and ready to listen. I want to follow You with all my heart. You are my everything,

I can't wait to wake-up tomorrow (Your will) to spend time with You in the morning. I want to say to You so much, that I love You. Let my heart and hunger never die.

I pray this night for all my brothers and sisters that they would let the Lord lead them and to trust in Him. I love looking at my journals because it encourages me to keep going in the Lord. To let Him lead, so much is going on and I find myself so busy. But there is no one like Him and all there is to do is to surrender all to Him. My pray that you all will surrender all the God of our salvation and wait on Him.

Sunday in Fall 2009

Today, was a good day. I woke up early in the A.M. to go to Starbucks. I had my journal, pen and my camera. In Starbucks I wrote in my journal and it was great to express my feelings to a Savior like ours. I feel confident that everything will be okay and that I just need trust Him about life. At 9am I went over to church and I must say it was awesome to be among like minded believers. Then after that I went to take pictures in my town.
